Initiatives Grantmaking

With the strategic framework in place, a considerable portion of ECMC Foundation’s grantmaking now rests within a collection of initiatives—areas where the Foundation has built expertise and a strong point of view on how best to drive sustained change over time, in line with our North Star. Though many of the existing initiatives represent work already well underway before the recent reorganization, the new structure elevates our focus in these areas and calls attention to critical populations of underserved students and interventions to address systemic barriers.

Even as most initiatives represent areas that the Foundation has deliberately and significantly funded for years, the designation is now accompanied by a multiyear grantmaking commitment, as well as a theory of action, bold goal setting and a learning and evaluation strategy. Each initiative aligns closely with ECMC Foundation’s strategic priorities while operating with sufficient autonomy to address specific challenges, implement unique innovations and advance systemic change. As each initiative continues to evolve, we see incredible potential ahead in 2024.
